SCC Defeats Skagit Valley College 114-105 In Men's Basketball
The SCC Men's Basketball Team scored 61 points in the first half to jump out to a 13 point lead (61-48) and held off Skagit Valley in the second half as SCC defeated the Cardinals 114-105.

The Dolphins were led by Joe Bodman with 23 points and 11 rebounds, Avery ScharerD30_0860_sc.jpg with a "Triple Double" (21 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assistants) and Will Acromite with 21 points.

The SCC full court press was very effective on the night, as the Dolphins scored 39 points off of turnovers.

Shoreline plays Olympic College on Saturday at home at 4:00 PM. The Dolphins are now 7-5 on the season and 1-0 in the region. Olympic dropped their opening region game to Bellevue College on Wednesday, 74-72. SCC defeated Olympic at the NWAACC Crossover on December 18th, 113-91.

Avery Scharer Named SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Avery Scharer, a sophomore guard, has been named SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Scharer, playing in his first three games after becoming eligible after the Christmas break began was dominant at the NWAACC Crossover Tournament at Wenatchee Valley CC.

D30_3816.JPGAvery scored 19.3 points a game, had 9.7 assists running the SCC fastbreak attack and got 5.3 rebounds a game in the 3 game tournament. He had 27 points in the blowout win against Olympic College and scored 22 points against #4 ranked Tacoma CC in the SCC 95-92 loss to the Titans.

SCC is 6-5 on the season will open NWAACC Northern Region play on Wednesday, January 4th at Skagit Valley College and plays at home on January 7th against Olympic College.
Bodman Named All-Tournament At NWAACC Crossover

SCC Sophomore Joe Bodman was named All-Tournament at the NWAA

Bodman averaged 12.7 points per game and 14 rebounds per game for the 3 game tournament.

SCC is 6-5 going into the Christmas Break and will open the NWAACC Northern Region schedule on January 4 as they travel to Skagit Valley College.


SCC Men's Basketball Finishes 3rd At NWAACC Crossover

The SCC Men's Basketball Team pounded Portland Community College Willon Friday, beating the Pathners 106 to 54. Shoreline was led by Will Acromite with 16 points and Earlie Dixon with 14 and Joe Bodman with 10. SCC outscored PCC 60 to 9 from the bench and out-rebounded them 41-28.


The Dolphins battled the 4th ranked Tacoma CC team tooth and nail the whole night, with both teams swapping leads in the second half and being tied several times. SCC had 3-4 chances in the closing second to hit a 3 pointer to tie the game, but the shots bounced off the rim.


Avery Scharer in just his second game for the Dolphins, led SCC with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Earlie Dixon scored 17 points and Will Acroite added 15 for SCC. Joe Bodman had an incredible 19 rebounds and scored 12 points. SCC out rebounded TCC 64-44.


WideIn the third place game, SCC broke open a close game in the first half to rout Olympic College 113-91. SCC was down by one at half-time, 46-45, but the SCC fast break and deep bench took over in the second half at the Dolphins pulled away on the way to an easy victory.


SCC was led by Avery Scharer and Will Acromite with 27 points each, while Joe Bodman added 16 points and 16 rebounds.


SCC finished 3rd twice in two pre-region tournaments and will start the region season on January 4th against Skagit Valley College in Mt. Vernon, WA. SCC opens the home region schedule on January 7th against the same Olympic squad they faced today. SCC finish the pre-region schedule 6-5 while OC is 2-5

SCC Names Will Acromite as SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week:

Freshman Will Acromite from San Juan Hills High School in San JuanD30_0718_sc.jpg Capistrano, CA was named SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts against Northwest Indian College on Sunday at the SCC gym.

Acromite scored 22 points with 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist in the SCC 113-107 loss to NWIC. The guard was 5 for 11 from three point range and shot 7 of 17 overall and hit 3 of his 4 free throws.

SCC is 4-4 on the season and play at the NWAACC Crossover Tournament this weekend at Wenatchee Valley Community College. SCC plays Portland Community College on Friday at 10:00 AM. PCC is 0-7 on the season.

SCC Drops 113-107 Game to Northwest Indian College
The Dolphin Basketball Team fell behind earlier and could never make up the difference as Northwest Indian College topped SCC 113-107 and gain revenge for a 113-112 loss to SCC in the opening game of the year for Shoreline.

SCC never led in the game, and was behind 92-73 at one point in the second half, but fought back within 6 points at several points in the late going but could never get any closer.

DSC_0204_sc.jpgThe Dolphins were led by Will Acromite with 22 points, Reuben Donaldson with 18 and Artez Scharer added 17. Joe Bodman scored 11 points and had 14 rebounds for SCC. Mike Schjang and Josh Nelson scored 28 and 26 for NWIC.

Shoreline is now 4-4 on the season and will play Friday at the NWAACC Crossover at Wenatchee Valley Community College. SCC will take on Portland Community College at 10:00 AM in the crossover on Friday. PCC is 0-7 on the season.
SCC Home Opener On Sunday, Former NBA Player Helps Team

The Shoreline Community College Men's Basketball Team plays its home opener on Sunday at 6:00 PM in the SCC Gym. SCC is off to a 4-3 start on the season and is averaging 102 points a game on offense. The Dolphins are being tutored this week by Bo Kimble, the former #8 pick in the NBA draft who is in town to work with SCC on the "Fast-Break" offense that Kimble ran at Loyola Marymount University in the late 1980's.


BodmanThe Dolphins will play Northwest Indian College on Sunday, in a rematch of the opening game of the season, where the SCC squad won 113-112. The Dolphins scored 100+ points a game for the first 5 games of the season on their way to a 4-1 start, but starting forward Jesse Vaughan, who leads the team with a 26.17 points per game average was hurt in their sixth game against the Community College of Spokane which ended up as a 94-72 loss and he could not play against Yakima Valley CC the next day and SCC dropped their second game at the CC of Spokane Tournament, 100-95.


SCC has styled their offense around the Paul Westhead's fast break attack that Loyola Marymount ran in the late 1980s when those teams averaged over 100 points a game (120 in 1989-90) and that Kimble played in for three seasons.


Other leading scorers for SCC are Kelly Hong at 20.00 points per game, Will Acromite with 15.14, Joe Bodman at 13.67 and Jordan Lupher with 12.75. Bodman also leads the team in rebound average with 11 rebounds per game. Jesse Vaughan is second in rebounds with an 8.17 average.


Kimble, who knows SCC Coach Greg Turcott, is in Shoreline this weekBo Kimble working with the SCC players and coaches to help the Dolphins learn the fast-break system. Kimble in 1990 led the nation in scoring with a 35 points per game average. Kimble signed with the University of Southern California as a freshman but transferred to Loyola Marymount to play for Westhead. His NBA career was cut short with injuries, but played for the LA Clippers and a short time with the New York Nicks. He was the #8 pick in the 1990 NBA draft.

Joe Bodman Named SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week:
D30_8105_sc.jpgSophomore Joe Bodman was named the SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Bodman was named All-Tournament at the Community College of Spokane tournament over the weekend, where he averaged 16.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds during the three day event. SCC went 1-2 over the weekend, as they defeated Treasure Valley CC on Friday night, 107 to 95 but lost to the CC of Spokane, 94 to 72 and Yakima Valley CC, 100 to 95.

Bodman is averaging 13.67 points per game for the season (7 games) and 11 rebounds per game.

SCC is 4-3 on the season and is averaging 102 points per game. SCC plays Northwest Indian College on Sunday at home at 6:00 PM. SCC defeated NWIC on November 20 113-112 in the opening game of the season.
SCC Drops 100-95 Game To Yakima Valley CC

The SCC Men's Basketball Team dropped a close game to Yakima Valley Community College on Sunday at the CC of Spokane Tournament, 100-95, as the Dolphins battled without leading scoring Jesse Vaughan who was out of action for the game.

Freshman Will Acromite scored 26 points for SCC while grabbing 7DSC_0204_sc.jpg rebounds. Sophomore Joe Bodman played another solid game for SCC scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds along with 3 steals. Jordan Lupfer added 14 and Kona Makaula scored 10 to round out the double figure scoring for SCC.

Yakima led by 10 at halftime, 52-42 and Shoreline mounted a comeback in the second half, but fell short. 

D30_8234_sc.jpg SCC finished the tournament with a 1-2 record and now is 4-2overall. Yakima improved to 4-2 for the season. SCC opens its home season next Sunday at 6:00 PM against Northwest Indian College in the SCC Gym. SCC beat NWIC 113-112 in Bellingham in the season opener for the Dolphins.

SCC Men’s Basketball Drops 94-72 Game to CC of Spokane

The 100 point streak is over, as SCC Men's Basketball dropped aD30_8246_sc.jpg 94-72 game to the Community Colleges of Spokane on Saturday in Spokane. SCC had scored over 100 points (over 107 to be exact) in their first 5 games this year, but not on Saturday night.

Shoreline managed only 36 points in both halves and shot only 40% from the floor, including only 2-12 from three point range. SCC was out rebounded 50-38 as second shots were hard to come by.

D30_8084_sc.jpgJesse Vaughan led SCC again with 16 points, but off his 28 point average going into the game. Reuben Donaldson and Ryan Osborne added 10 each for the Dolphins as well.

SCC plays Yakima Valley CC today at 1:00 PM in the third place game of the CC of Spokane Tournament. Spokane faces North Idaho in the finals. SCC is 4-2 on the season while YVCC is 3-2. Spokane moves to 5-0.

SCC Defeats Treasure Valley CC 107-97
SCC Men's Basketball Routs Treasure Valley CC 107-97 at Spokane Tournament - SCC overcame a 12 point deficient at halftime and roared back to defeat Treasure Valley Community College 107 to 97 at the Community College of Spokane Basketball Tournament in Spokane, WA.

SCC was led by Jesse Vaughan who scored 28 points and had 7 assists and Joe Bodman, who scored 25 points and had 8 rebounds. SCC shot only 39.5% in the first half, but got hot in the second half, hitting 51% of their shots.

SCC plays the CC of Spokane tonight in the semifinals of the tournament at 7:30 PM. SCC is 4-1 on the season while Spokane is 4-0.
