Joshua Youngblood scored 30 points for SCC on Wednesday night at Skagit Valley College, but it was not enough for the Dolphins as they lost a 112-108 game to the Cardinals.
Youngblood hit 11 of 17 shots, 7 for 11 from three point range in his big night. Nahshon George scored 18 for SCC with 16 rebounds and 2 steals in another good night for the sophomore center. Kadeem Stewart and Zachary Hafen scored 16 each and Dean Viena rounded out the double figure scoring for Shoreline by adding 13 points.
Jackson Kirkpatrick scored 34 and Riley Newman added 31 for the Cardinals.
SCC lost the game on the freethrow line, hitting only 11 of 23 for 48% while SVC went 16-19 from the charity stripe. SCC dominated most of the stats, Outscoring SVC on points from turnovers (23-11), 2nd chance points (17-0), rebounds (51-36) and points from the bench (37-20).
SCC falls to 2-11 on the season and 1-3 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Skagit moves to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in the region.
Shoreline faces rival and #2 ranked Edmonds Community College on Saturday in the SCC Gym at 4:00pm. ECC will enter the game with a 14-2 record, and 4-0 in the region.
