* SCC Men’s Soccer Defeats Whatcom 4-3

The Shoreline Community College Men’s Soccer Team won a dramatic 4-3 victory over Whatcom on Wednesday at the SCC Soccer Field. testa.jpgThe Dolphins led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Jeffers Hale and Simon Walker, but WCC tied the match up midway through the second half. Greg Testa scored what appeared to be the game winning header in the 83rd minute, to give SCC a 3-2 lead, but WCC came back one minute later to tie the score again. Testa then scored on another head in the 89th minute to put SCC back up 4-3 but one minute later, a SCC player was red carded and SCC had to hold off Whatcom with only 10 players in extra time for the victory.

SCC is now 3-7-2 on the season, 3-4-2 in the region and in second place in the Northern Region. SCC is 3-1-2 in the last six games as they have now surged into contention for the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC faces league leading Edmonds CC on Saturday, Edmonds leads the division with 12 points, while SCC is second with 11 points and Whatcom follows in third with 10 points. SCC faces ECC at home on Saturday at 2 pm.

SCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Kevin Flavin

flavin2.jpgKevin Flavin was named Player of the Week for Shoreline Community College Men’s Soccer Team. Flavin, a sophomore forward from Oak Harbor High School, scored two goals in the 4-1 win over Everett Community College last week. Flavin scored the first goal of the match, 3 minutes into the game and then put the game away with the final goal in the 83rd minute.

* SCC Men's Soccer Defeats Everett 4-1

flavinatskagit.jpgThe Shoreline Community College Men’s Soccer Team jumped out to an early three goal lead, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the game and went on to a 4-1 victory over Everett CC. Kevin Flavin scored two goals and DJ Drevitch and Simon Walker added goals for the Dolphins. ECC had two red cards in the contest and finished with 9 players of the field.


SCC pushed its record to 2-7-2 overall, 2-4-2 in the region. SCC is 2-1-2 in the past five games. Everett is now 1-8-2 overall. Shoreline plays Whatcom Community College next Wednesday at home at 4 pm.

* SCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Kevin Flavin

flavinind.jpgSophomore forward Kevin Flavin was named the Shoreline Community College Men's Soccer Player of the Week. Flavin, from Oak Harbor High School scored two goals against Skagit Valley College on Saturday, as the Dolphins won their first game of the season. SCC is 1-7-2 on the season, but the improving squad is 1-1-2 in the last four matches.

* SCC Men’s Soccer Claims First Win of Season

The Shoreline Community College’s Men's Soccer Team claimed its first win of the season with a 3-2 win on Saturday at home. SCC scored two quick goals to open the game and scored again in the 51st minute but Skagit bounced back to score two goals to put a scare into the Dolphins. Kevin Flavin scored two goals for SCC and Daniel Drevitch add the third.


SCC is 1-7-2 overall, 1-5-2 in the Region. SCC plays Everett CC on Wednesday at 2 pm at the SCC Soccer Field. Skagit Valley falls to 4-5-3 overall, 0-5-1 in the region.
* SCC Men's Soccer Falls To Edmonds CC On Late Goal

The Shoreline Men's Soccer Team dropped a see-saw match with Edmonds CC on Wednesday night at Meadowdale High School 3-2. SCC scored first, ECC tied it, SCC scored again, ECC tied it and then ECC got the winning goal in the 87th minute. Jacob Byrne and Daniel Drevitch scored for SCC and Drevitch had an assist as well.


SCC is 0-7-2 on the year, 0-5-2 in the region and play Skagit Valley on Saturday at home at 2 pm.
* Player of the Week:

Drevitch.jpgDaniel Drevitch, a freshman forward from Seattle Academy, was given the assist on the goal scored by Kevin Flavin that led the Dolphins to a tie against the Community College of Spokane. Daniel’s speed and agility in the middle gave the CC of Spokane trouble all match long as the improving SCC squad moved its record to 0-6-2, but has tied the last two games against good competition.

* SCC Men’s Soccer Team Ties Spokane

The Shoreline Community College Men’s Soccer Team tied the Community College of Spokane on Saturday at the SCC Soccer Field. After a scoreless first half, SCC broke through in the 55th minute as Kevin Flavin scores on an assistant by DJ Drevitch. Spokane then put pressure on the SCC defense and finally, the Dolphins gave way to a goal in the 83rd minute.


SCC is now 0-6-2, after tying its last two matches and is 0-3-2 in the Northern Region standings (Eastern Region Crossover games count in the Northern Region standings this season). SCC opens its Northern Region schedule on the road Wednesday versus Edmonds CC and then plays Saturday, against Skagit Valley College at the SCC Soccer Field at 2 pm.
