Representatives from a private Chinese education services provider met with Shoreline Community College officials on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, and toured the campus.

“We’re honored to host this visit,” said Larry Fuell, Shoreline’s Director of Global Affairs. “Not only are we making connections in China, but also with the Chinese community here at home.”

The delegation from Yangguang Yide Education Group (YYE) was led by Guang Yang, President/Chairman of YYE’s National Model Center for Study Support, and included Guiyan Yang, School Principal of National Model Center for Study Support, and Wentao Chen, Dean of Economic Development Department of National Model Center for Study Support.

With the group as host was Hong Qi, Managing Partner of Pacific International Education, LLC, and President of the Seattle Chonqing Sister City Association.

While on campus, the group also spoke with Vice President for Administrative Services Daryl Campbell.

YYE works with a number of universities in China to provide academic services to students through a string of Yangguang Self-study Service Centers. Fuell said Shoreline and the group are exploring opportunities that could bring Chinese university students to the college for a variety of short-term educational experiences.
