SCC Names Samantha Towne As Women's Tennis Player of the Week
300_0423.JPGShoreline Community College on Wednesday announced that Samantha Towne has been named the final Women's Tennis Player of the Week for 2013.

Towne was the #1 seeded SCC player at the NWAACC Championship over the past weekend. She was defeated in the opening round by Treasure Valley CC 2-6, 3-6 in a competitive match and then lost in the consolation round 2-6, 0-6 to the #1 seed from the Community Colleges of Spokane.

The short-handed SCC team finished 5th at the NWAACC Championship, but only had 4 players. SCC did not win a match at the championship.
SCC Men's Tennis Finishes 2nd At NWAACC Without Winning A Match On Second Day
300_0472.JPGThe Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team finished 2nd at the NWAACC Tennis Championship, even when they did not win a match on Saturday in the championship round. The Community Colleges of Spokane won the championship with 131 points, SCC edged out Skagit Valley College 83 to 82 for 2nd place. Treasure Valley CC finished 4th.

SCC had 5 representatives in the championship round for singles and 1 doubles team.

SCC's #1 seeded player, Yassar Kahn finished runner-up in the NWAACC for the 2nd year in a row. SCC dropped matches at #1, #2, #3, #5 and #6 singles and at #3 doubles. Daniel Kalip won his match on Friday over Treasure Valley (6-0, 6-2) that had been posted incorrectly on the NWAACC site.

The Lady Dolphins Tennis Team completed play on Friday and did not score any points to finish in 5th place.
SCC Women's Tennis Team Struggles At NWAACC Championship
The undermanned Shoreline Community College Women's Tennis Team struggled at the NWAACC Championship, going 0-6 in their matches at the event. SCC only have four of the required 6 players to compete.

#4 Lan Zhang lost to Treasure Valley 0-6, 1-6 and Bellevue College 0-6, 1-6

SCC Men's Tennis Does Well On First Day of NWAACC Tournamen
The Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team did well on Friday at the NWAACC Tennis Championship, as 4 of the 6 single players advanced to the finals of the championship and one doubles team.

#1 Yassar Khan won 6-0, 6-1 over Treasure Valley
#2 Shota Murai won 6-4, 7-5 over Skagit Valley
#3 Dylan Vickers won 6-2, 6-2 over Treasure Valley
#6 Max Larson won 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 over Treasure Valely


#3 Max Larson/Daniel Kalip won 6-4, 6-1 over Treasure Valley.

#4 Richard Rasavac lost 4-6, 0-6 to Skagit Valley
#5 Daniel Kalip lost 2-6, 0-6 to Treasure Valley


#1 Yassar Khan/Shota Murai lost 7-5, 5-7, 4-6 to CCs of Spokane
#2 Richard Rasavac/Dylan Vickers lost 1-6, 3-6 to CCs of Spokane

All losers will play in the consolation finals today.
NWAACC Names Daniel Kalip To All-Academic Team:
700_2888x.jpgShoreline Community College announced on Wednesday that Daniel Kalip has been named to the NWAACC Men's Tennis All-Academic Team for 2013.

Daniel has a 3.53 GPA.

To qualify for the award, you must me a 2nd year player, have 36 credits, maintain 3.25 GPA and be recommended by the college.

Congratulations Daniel.
