SCC Names Samantha Towne As Women's Tennis Player of the Week
300_0423.JPGShoreline Community College on Wednesday announced that Samantha Towne has been named the final Women's Tennis Player of the Week for 2013.

Towne was the #1 seeded SCC player at the NWAACC Championship over the past weekend. She was defeated in the opening round by Treasure Valley CC 2-6, 3-6 in a competitive match and then lost in the consolation round 2-6, 0-6 to the #1 seed from the Community Colleges of Spokane.

The short-handed SCC team finished 5th at the NWAACC Championship, but only had 4 players. SCC did not win a match at the championship.
SCC Men's Tennis Finishes 2nd At NWAACC Without Winning A Match On Second Day
300_0472.JPGThe Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team finished 2nd at the NWAACC Tennis Championship, even when they did not win a match on Saturday in the championship round. The Community Colleges of Spokane won the championship with 131 points, SCC edged out Skagit Valley College 83 to 82 for 2nd place. Treasure Valley CC finished 4th.

SCC had 5 representatives in the championship round for singles and 1 doubles team.

SCC's #1 seeded player, Yassar Kahn finished runner-up in the NWAACC for the 2nd year in a row. SCC dropped matches at #1, #2, #3, #5 and #6 singles and at #3 doubles. Daniel Kalip won his match on Friday over Treasure Valley (6-0, 6-2) that had been posted incorrectly on the NWAACC site.

The Lady Dolphins Tennis Team completed play on Friday and did not score any points to finish in 5th place.
SCC Women's Tennis Team Struggles At NWAACC Championship
The undermanned Shoreline Community College Women's Tennis Team struggled at the NWAACC Championship, going 0-6 in their matches at the event. SCC only have four of the required 6 players to compete.

SCC Men's Tennis Does Well On First Day of NWAACC Tournamen
The Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team did well on Friday at the NWAACC Tennis Championship, as 4 of the 6 single players advanced to the finals of the championship and one doubles team.

#1 Yassar Khan won 6-0, 6-1 over Treasure Valley
#2 Shota Murai won 6-4, 7-5 over Skagit Valley
#3 Dylan Vickers won 6-2, 6-2 over Treasure Valley
#6 Max Larson won 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 over Treasure Valely


#3 Max Larson/Daniel Kalip won 6-4, 6-1 over Treasure Valley.

#4 Richard Rasavac lost 4-6, 0-6 to Skagit Valley
#5 Daniel Kalip lost 2-6, 0-6 to Treasure Valley


#1 Yassar Khan/Shota Murai lost 7-5, 5-7, 4-6 to CCs of Spokane
#2 Richard Rasavac/Dylan Vickers lost 1-6, 3-6 to CCs of Spokane

All losers will play in the consolation finals today.
NWAACC Names Daniel Kalip To All-Academic Team:
700_2888x.jpgShoreline Community College announced on Wednesday that Daniel Kalip has been named to the NWAACC Men's Tennis All-Academic Team for 2013.

Daniel has a 3.53 GPA.

To qualify for the award, you must me a 2nd year player, have 36 credits, maintain 3.25 GPA and be recommended by the college.

Congratulations Daniel.

SCC Names Sami Towne and Emily Wilbur As Co-Women's Tennis Player of the Week
300_0356.JPGShoreline Community College on Tuesday named freshmen Sami Towne and Emily Wilbur as Co-Women's Tennis Players of the Week for their victory as a doubles team against Bellevue College on Sunday.

Towne and Wilbur defeated the #1 Doubles Team from Bellevue 7-5, 6-3 on Sunday, for the only SCC victory in a 1-8 loss to the Bulldogs. Towne and Wilbur dropped a 2-6, 3-6 match to Treasure Valley on Saturday, but it was the most competitive match of the day for SCC in the 0-7 loss.300_0423.JPG

The Lady Dolphins are winless on the season, and only have 4 players on the roster. Wilbur is a scholarship women's basketball player as well.

SCC concludes the season this weekend at the NWAACC Tennis Championships in Spokane, WA.

300_0299.JPGShoreline Community College Named Yassar Khan as the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his performance against Treasure Valley Community College.

Khan, a sophomore and SCC's #1 player for the past two seasons, won his singles match 6-0, 6-0 and teaming with a new partner for the day, won the #1 doubles match 6-2, 6-2. 

SCC finishes this season this week at the NWAACC Championship in Spokane, WA. Khan will enter the event at the #2 ranked player in the NWAACC at #1 Singles.
SCC Women's Tennis Drops Match To Bellevue College
300_0417.JPGThe Shoreline Community College Women's Tennis Team dropped a 8-1 match to Bellevue College on Sunday at Shoreview Park.

SCC with only four players had to default three matches to the Bulldogs and the Lady Dolphins only victory on the day was at #1 Doubles were Sami Towne and Emily Wilbur defeated the Bellevue team 7-5, 6-3. SCC only won 2 other games in the other five matches played.

The Dolphins finished the regular season 0-8 and travel to the NWAACC Championship this weekend in Spokane, WA.
SCC Men's Tennis Defeats Treasure Valley CC, SCC Women's Drop Match to TVCC
300_0472.JPGThe SCC Men's Tennis Team, playing without #2 player, Shota Murai, defeated Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday at Shoreview Park. In singles competition, SCC won at #1, #2, #3 and #5 singles and SCC also won at #1 doubles to secure the 5 match wins needed for the victory. At #2 singles, Dylan Vickers for SCC lost the first set 3-6 but came back to win 6-4, 6-1. SCC's #1 player, Yassar Khan had an easy time of it, winning 6-0, 6-0 in singles and teaming with Vickers, won doubles 6-2, 6-2.

The SCC Women's Tennis Team stayed winless for 2013 as Treasure300_0417.JPG Valley defeated them 9-0. SCC again played with four players (defaulting 2 singles and 1 doubles match). The doubles team of Sami Towne and Emily Wilbur gave the best accounting of themselves, losing 6-3, 6-2 at #1 doubles.

The SCC Women's Teams hosts Bellevue College today at 10:00am to finish the regular season and the SCC Men's Team travels to the University of Washington to play the UW Men's Club Team today as well.
