* Cold Shooting Continues For SCC Women’s Basketball

The Lady Dolphins shot only 26.7% for the games, as Everett CC defeated Shoreline 77-53 in an NWAACC Northern Region Game at the SCC gym on Saturday afternoon. The SCC squad has now dropped 6 williams.jpggames in a row as the team has found it hard to score.


Kylie Williams led SCC with 18 points and Gnanamani Hooyman added 14 but were the only two Dolphins in double figures.


Shoreline was down 43-25 at half and could not muster any runs in the second half to close the gap.


SCC is now 5-11 on the season, 1-7 in the NWAACC Northern Region. ECC is 10-7 and 6-2. SCC starts the second of the Northern Region schedule next week on Wednesday night as they host Bellevue College in the SCC Gym at 5:30 pm.

* SCC Women’s Basketball Losing Streak Hits 5 As Shooting Problems Continue

The struggling Lady Dolphin basketball team lost to Peninsula College on Wednesday night in Port Angeles, 65-45, to run their losing streak to 5 games. After starting the season a promising 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the region, the loss of second leading scorer, Lynsey Sandum, who was averaging 10 points a game and was the major inside force for the SCC squad has lead to a scoring drought for the team and five straight losses.


Jenny Voss was the leading scorer for SCC, with 15 points. Gnanamani Hooyman scored 10 points for the Dolphins and added 7 rebounds, but only shot 3 for 10 from the field.


Shoreline was down 32-20 in the first half, shooting only 24% from the field in the first half. Things did improve in the second half, again voss2.jpgshooting 24% from the field and the SCC only hit 13 of 26 from the free throw line.


The Lady Dolphins record now stands at 5-10 for the season and 1-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Peninsula moved to 5-12 on the season and 2-6 in the region. SCC faces Everett Community College on Saturday afternoon in the SCC Gym at 2 pm to complete the first half of the Northern Region schedule.

* SCC Women’s Basketball Blows Lead and Falls to Edmonds

The Lady Dolphins continues to be a team of halves, as the SCC squad jumped out to a 25-15 lead at halftime on the Lady Tritons of Edmonds CC, only to fall 49-42 as ECC outscored Shoreline 34-17 in the second half.  Shoreline led Whatcom CC on Wednesday night 10-0 to start the game, but lost in the second half as well.  Shoreline only managed to shoot 23% in the second half.


Shoreline was led by Jenny Voss and Tess Cathey with 13 points each.  Genia Taylor had 10 rebounds for SCC.


The Lady Dolphins are now on a four game losing streak.  SCC is 5-9 overall, 1-5 in the region. Edmonds is 7-7, 3-3.


Shoreline will travel to Peninsula College on Wednesday night at 5 pm. SCC returns home next Saturday afternoon to face Everett CC at 2 pm in the SCC gym.

* SCC Women’s Basketball Drops 75-60 To Whatcom CC

The Lady Dolphin’s basketball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game, but then Whatcom came back to take a 38-36 lead to end the half and went on to a 75-60 win as they dominated the second half.


SCC was led by Jenny Voss with 12 points plus 11 from Kylie Williams and Gnanamani Hooyman added 10. Ashley Honeycutt led WCC with 24 points.


Shoreline plays Saturday at rival Edmonds CC at 5:00 PM. SCC drops to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Whatcom is now 5-0 in the region and 9-5 overall.
* Shoreline CC Women’s Basketball Drops 67-52 Game to North Seattle

The Lady Dolphins of Shoreline Community College dropped a NWAACC Northern Region game to North Seattle Community College on Monday night in the SCC Gym 67-52.


The first half was very competitive, as SCC jumped out in front early, then NSCC rallied to take a lead and then SCC battled back to be down 34-33 at half. But the Dolphins came out in the second half very cold shooting (making 11% of their shots), scoring only one point in the first 8 minutes of the second half and never was able to get back in the game.


voss.jpgSCC was missing sophomore forward Lynsey Sandum, who broke her ankle on Saturday night at Skagit Valley, who averages 14 points a game and is the main Dolphin threat inside. Kyle Williams lead SCC with 14 points, but was only 2 for 13 from the field. Jenny Voss scored 10 points.


Shoreline is now 5-7 overall and 1-3 in the region. The Lady Dolphins face Whatcom Community College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym at 5:30 PM. North Seattle is now 3-10 overall and 2-3 in the region. NSCC was led by Zelda Porter who scored 30 points for the Storm.

* SCC Women’s Basketball Defeats Olympic

The Lady Dolphins of Shoreline Community College collected their first conference win of the season against Olympic College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym. 


sandum2.jpgAfter a slow start, SCC took control in the second half, holding a 10 point lead most of the second period.  SCC was led by sophomore Lynsey Sandum, who scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds. Kylie Williams added 12 points for the Dolphins as well.


Shoreline is now 5-5 on the year, 1-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Shoreline travels to Skagit Valley College on Saturday to play the Lady Cardinals and then return home on Monday at 5:30 pm to take on North Seattle CC. SCC also faces Whatcom CC on Wednesday night at home as well. Olympic fell to 3-8 overall  and 0-3 in the region.
