Kaleigh Phillips Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
D30_3775.JPGThe 6'1" freshman from Summit High School in Valencia, CA led the Lady Dolphins in scoring for the week, hitting 10 points on Tuesday night at Northwest Indian College and adding 15 points on Saturday against Yakima Valley Community College. 

SCC defeated NWIC 66-48 but was defeated by the defending NWAACC Champions, YVCC 80-44.

SCC plays South Puget Sound CC on Saturday at the SCC Gym at 2:00 PM.
SCC Women's Basketball Drops Home Opener
The Lady Dolphin Basketball Team ran into the defending NWAACC Champions in their home opener and took a tough 80-44 loss. SCC hung tough in the opening 10 minutes, but YVCC pulled away late in the first half with a tough full court game and never looked back, going a head 43-20 at halftime and pushing the lead to 65-27 midway through the second half before cruising to victory.

D30_3775.JPGKaleigh Phillips led SCC with 15 points, but was the only Lady Dolphin in double figures. Michan Lueke scored 8 points and had 7 rebounds in the loss.

SCC committed 33 turnovers as the Yaks full court press caused SCC a lot of problems.

SCC is now 1-1 on the season and returns to the court next Saturday at home against South Puget Sound CC in the SCC Gym at 2:00 PM. Yakima Valley is now 4-0 on the young season.
SCC Women's Basketball Opens With Win Over NW Indian College
The Lady Dolphin Women's Basketball Team opened the season with a 66-48 win over Northwest Indian College in Bellingham, WA on Tuesday night. 

The Lady Dolphins were led by a trio of scorers with 10 points, as sophomore Tess Cahtey and freshmen Micahn Luecke and Kaleigh Philips shared the scoring lead. Hailey Stuart scored 9 and Jenny Voss and Maria Ciriaco added 8 points each for a balanced SCC offensive attack.
SCC led 35-24 at halftime and held NWIC to 24 points each half.

The Lady Dolphins face stiff competition in their home opener on Saturday, at they face the defending NWAACC Women's Champions, Yakima Valley CC in the SCC Gym at 2:00 PM. YVCC is 3-0 on the season after winning their own Tip-Off Classic over the weekend.
