* Player of the Week: Hannah Stoeve

stoeve.jpgFreshman Hannah Stoeve from Shorewood High School was named SCC Volleyball Player of the Week as she led to the Lady Dolphins to a 1-1 record last week with a 5 game loss to Edmonds CC and a 3 game victory over Bellevue College. Stoeve had a kill percentage of .250 against ECC and .677 against BC.

* SCC Volleyball defeats Bellevue

After a bad home loss on Wednesday night to Edmonds CC, the Lady Dolphin volleyball team bounced back and defeated Bellevue College Friday evening on the road, 25-19,25-9 ,25-21, to even their record at 1-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region and 12-7 overall, topping their number of wins for last year with a half a season to go. BC falls to 0-1 in the region and 2-12 overall.


Lisa Day led the Dolphins with 23 kills on the evening and Marina Lutsky added 10 for SCC.


SCC plays at Everett Community College on Wednesday night at 7 pm.
* SCC Volleyball Has Three Named NWAACC Northern Region Players of the Week

Matelita Melino was named NWAACC Northern Region Offensive Player of Week for last week. The sophomore Middle Blocker from McKinley High School in Honolulu, HA.  Natalie Kaltbrunner, a sophomore Libero, from Snohomish, WA was named Defensive Player of the Week as well. Both players were honored for their efforts in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament at Green River Community College last weekend.


Lisa Day was named NWAACC Northern Region Offensive Player of the Week two weeks ago. The freshman from Ballard High School was honored for her efforts at the Lower Columbia tournament, in Lakeview, WA.

* Edmonds Defeats SCC in Volleyball

The Lady Dolphins Volleyball Team of Shoreline Community College opened the NWAACC Northern Region schedule with a loss, dropping a five game match to Edmonds CC, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-15, 13-15.


SCC is 11-6 overall, and 0-1 in the region.  ECC wins its first game of the year, ECC is 1-12 overall and 1-0 in the region.  Shoreline travels to Bellevue College on Friday night to play the Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

* Player of the Week: Marina Lutsky
lutsky.jpgMarina Lutsky was named Player of the Week for her performance at the NWAACC Crossover Tournament and against Northwest Indian College last week.  Marina is a sophomore from Shorewood High School.
* Shoreline Volleyball Finishes Second in NWAACC Crossover

volleyball2010.JPGThe Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team went 4-2 in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament in Auburn, WA at Green River Community College. The Lady Dolphins dropped the championship match to Green River in five games, 25-17, 23-25, 14-25, 25-15, 11-15. GRCC also defeated SCC during the round robin stages of the tournament. SCC defeated Yakima Valley CC in the semi-finals, 25-18, 25-23, 26-24, to advance to the finals. Shoreline defeated Big Bend CC, Umpqua CC and Yakima Valley in the round robin part of the tournament.

SCC is 11-6 on the season, matching the number of the wins for the entire season in 2009. The Lady Dolphins host Edmonds Community College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym in the opening game of Northern Region play for both teams. Game time is 7 p.m. Adult admission $5.00, non-SCC students $3.00; SCC students attend free.

* SCC Volleyball Defeats Northwest Indian College

The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team defeated Northwest Indian College 25-6, 25-11, 25-15 on Tuesday night in Bellingham, WA. The Lady Dolphins go 2-0 against NWIC in 2010 as Shoreline opened the season with a victory over Northwest Indian.


SCC is now 7-4 on season and play in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament this weekend at Green River Community College. The Lady Dolphins open Northern Region play on September 22 at home against rival Edmonds Community College at 7:00 PM in the SCC Gym.

* SCC Volleyball Goes 3-1 at Lower Columbia Tournament

The SCC Volleyball Team won 3 of 4 matches on Saturday at the Lower Columbia Tournament. SCC defeated Lower Columbia College, Edmonds Community College and Umpqua Community College at the event but was defeated by Wenatchee Valley.


SCC goes 6-4 on the season and travels to NW Indian College on Tuesday before traveling to the NWAACC Crossover Tournament at Green River Community College on Friday and Saturday of next week.

* Christine Jenson Named SCC Volleyball Player of Week

jenson.jpgChristine Jenson was named the SCC Volleyball Player of Week after being named to the All-Tournament Team at the Highline Community College Tournament over the weekend. The freshman setter had 92 assists in the tournament with 10 service aces. Jenson played high school volleyball at Mountlake Terrace High School.


SCC went 2-3 in the tournament and is 3-3 on the season. The team travels to Longview, WA on Saturday to play in the Lower Columbia College tournament.

* Shoreline Volleyball Goes 2-3 at Highline Tournament

The SCC volleyball team went 2-3 at the Highline Community College Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. In pool play, the Lady Dolphins defeated the host college, Highline CC, 21-25, 28-26, 15-12, but lost to tournament champion Blue Mountain CC from Oregon and Walla Walla CC. In the opening game of bracket play, SCC defeated Southwest Oregon CC, 25-21,19-25, 15-5. But the Dolphins then lost to Chemeketa CC of Oregon and was eliminated from the tournament.


SCC is 3-3 on the young season and will play at the Lower Columbia College tournament on Saturday in Longview, WA.
* SCC Defeats Northwest Indian College In Volleyball

The Lady Dolphins of Shoreline Community College defeated Northwest Indian College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym, 25-7, 25-10 and 25-10 in their opening match of the season. The SCC squad jumped out to an earlier lead in the first game and never looked back, as they easily won each game against the overmatched NWIC team.


Shoreline travels to Highline Community College over the Labor Day weekend to play in tournament there.
