* SCC Volleyball Defeats Edmonds 3-1

volleyballatedmonds.jpgThe Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team defeated Edmonds CC on Wednesday night at Edmonds, 25-13, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, to revenge its sole loss in the NWAACC Northern Division. Shelby Souther led SCC with 16 kills in the match while Laura Postor has 42 assists.


SCC is now 6-1 in the region, tied with Whatcom for first place. SCC plays Bellevue and Everett at home on Friday and Monday nights at 7:00 PM, then faces Whatcom in Bellingham next Wednesday evening in a match-up that could decide the Northern Region Championship. SCC is 22-8 overall on the season and ranked 6th in the NWAACC.

* SCC Volleyball Co-Players of the Week: Laura Postor and Amanda Arnoux

There are Co-Volleyball Players of the Week for SCC Volleyball this week.  Laura Postor and Amanda Arnoux have been named SCC Volleyball Players of the Week.

Postor, a freshman defensive specialist from Shorewood High School, helped spark the Dolphins to a 5-1 record over the weekend at the NWACC Crossover Tournament at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, OR. Laura served over 90% with 10 aces during the tournament and averaged 2.5 digs a game during that stretch as well.

Arnoux, a freshman outside hitter from Nathan Hale High School, came off the bench to spark the team to victories against Lower Columbia and Clackamas, as both of those matches went five games.

* SCC Volleyball Goes 5-1 at NWAACC Crossover Tournament

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team won five matches over the weekend at NWAACC Crossover Tournament at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, OR. SCC defeated Treasure Valley CC, Whatcom CC, Lower Columbia College, Centralia CC and Clackamas CC. The Dolphins did drop a match to Blue Mountain CC, the top ranked college in the NWAACC. SCC had won 8 matches in a row until it loss to Blue Mountain.


souther.jpgFreshman Lisa Day and Sophomore Shelby Souther were named All-Tournament at the event. SCC is now 21-8 on the season, 5-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region and play Edmonds Community College on Wednesday night at Edmonds to open the second half of the region schedule. SCC is tied with Edmonds and Whatcom CC for first place in the division. The Lady Dolphins only loss in the region is to rival Edmonds. Match time is 7 pm.

* Lady Dolphin Volleyball Ranked 7th In NWAACC

The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team was ranked 7th in the NWAACC by the poll released on Thursday. SCC is 16-7 on the season, 5-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region, tied for first with Edmonds Community College and Whatcom Community College. The Lady Dolphins are spending this weekend in Ontario, OR, at the NWAACC Crossover at Treasure Valley Community College.

SCC plays Treasure Valley CC, Whatcom CC and Lower Columbia College on Friday, top ranked Blue Mountain CC, Centralia CC and Clackamas CC on Saturday. SCC is halfway through the Northern Region schedule and returns to division play on Wednesday, October 20th at Edmonds CC, the only team to beat SCC in the region play this season in the opening conference game of the season at Shoreline back on September 22.

The top four teams in the region qualify for the NWAACC Volleyball Championship to be played at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR, November 18-20.

* SCC Volleyball Pounds Skagit Valley

The Shoreline Community College Lady Dolphin’s Volleyball Team defeated Skagit Valley College on Wednesday night in Mount Vernon, WA, 25-13,26-24 ,25-16. The victory pushes SCC's record to 16-7 overall, 5-1 in the NWAACC Northern southerarmoux.jpgRegion and the Dolphins are in a 3 way tie for first place in the division with Edmonds and Whatcom CCs. The game marked the end of the first half of the region schedule.


SCC travels this weekend to Ontario, OR to play in the NWAACC Crossover tournament at Treasure Valley CC.

* SCC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week: Juwill Starks
starks.jpgFreshman Juwill Starks has been named Shoreline Community College Volleyball Player of the Week by the Shoreline CC Athletic Department. A middle blocker from McKinley High School in Honolulu, HI, Starks was pressed into a full time role when sophomore starter Lita Melino had to leave the team. Juwill had key blocks in the wins last week over Everett and Whatcom CCs. SCC is 15-7 on the season and 4-1 in the region, in a three way tie for first place.
* Souther and Jenson Named NWAACC Northern Region Volleyball Players of the Week

SCC Outside Hitter Shelby Souther was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Shoreline setter Christine Jenson was named the Setter of the Week for the NWAACC Northern Region. Souther had 30 kills in two games the past week with a .410 kill average. Jenson had 61 assists in the two victories against Everett CC and Whatcom CC.  SCC is 14-7 overall and 3-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC plays at home on Wednesday night against Olympic College at 7 pm.

* SCC Volleyball Defeats Olympic College 3-1

volleyball_celebrate.jpgThe Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team moved to 15-7 on the season, 4-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region with 25-19, 25-12, 23-25 and 25-22 win over Olympic College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym. Lisa Day had 24 kills and Shelby Souther added 15 as SCC dominated the first two games and then sealed the match in the fourth game. Christine Jenson had 47 assists in the game as the setter for SCC squad.


Shoreline has a week off and will play at Skagit Valley College next Wednesday night. The Lady Dolphins then travel to Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, OR October 15-16 to play in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament there.
* Player of the Week: Shelby Souther
souther.jpgShelby Souther, a sophomore outside hitter from Snohomish High School.  Shelby had 21 kills against Whatcom Community College on Friday, in a thrilling 5 game match victory over the Lady Orcas. Against Everett Community College on Wednesday, Souther had 9 kills and hit .559 in the 3 game victory for the Lady Dolphins. SCC is now 14-7 overall, 3-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region, good enough for second place one third of the way through the conference schedule.
* SCC Volleyball Wins 2 Matches

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team won two matches during the past week, defeating Everett Community College on Wednesday night at ECC. In that match, the SCC dominated on the way to a 25-11,25-20 ,25-14 victory. Freshman Lisa Day led the SCC Squad with 12 kills in the match.


On Friday, Shoreline played Whatcom in a classic battle in the SCC Gym. SCC jumped out to a 2-0 game lead in the match, but WCC fought back and tied the match at 2 games apiece. SCC then dominated the fifth game. Game scores were: 25-23,25-20,17-25,16-25,15-7.


Shoreline is now 14-7 on the season, 3-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC faces Olympic College on Wednesday night in the SCC gym at 7 pm.
