SCC Drops Match To Whatcom 3-2

A sluggish Shoreline CC Volleyball team dropped a match to Whatcom CC on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym, 3-2, as SCC still looked tired from its long weekend marathon tournament at Mt. Hood last Friday and Saturday.

SCC won the opening set of the match 25-20, but WCC came right back to win the second match 25-17. SCC took control of the match by coming back to win the third game, 27-25, but Whatcom would not quit and dropped SCC in the 4th set, 25-21. Whatcom jumped out to a quick lead in the 5th and deciding game and SCC could not come back and lost 15-10.

Jazmyn Ray led SCC with 16 kills and Hannah Stoeve had 14. Lisa Day added 13 kills with 3 ace serves and Amanda Arnoux rounded out the SCC offense with 12 kills. Setter Christine Jenson had 51 assists for SCC.

SCC is now 21-10 on the season, 6-2 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC is in second place in the region and finishes the season on the road, at Everett CC on Friday night and at Bellevue College next Tuesday night.

SCC honored six sophomore players on the night, playing their last home games in SCC gym. Lisa Day, Christine Jenson, Kelly Klebeck, Amanda Arnoux, Hannah Stoeve and Laura Postor are in their last year for SCC after putting together two very successful seasons for SCC.
