Employee Bio

Sue Ennis is a multi-platinum songwriter from Seattle. She has written over 80 songs for the band Heart (35 million records sold.) Additionally, her songs are featured in commercials and 5 Hollywood films.  She is a music publisher and a national trustee for the Recording Academy ("The Grammys") and also serves on the Seattle Music Commission. Current projects include writing songs for a feature film about an all-girl rock band and writing the script for a Broadway-bound jukebox musical.

Employee Bio

Matt Jorgensen started his music career as a student at Shoreline Community College before transferring to the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City.
As a jazz drummer he has released 12 albums as a bandleader or co-leader. Together with his business partner John Bishop, he founded the jazz record label Origin Records which has released over 650 albums and created the annual four-day Ballard Jazz Festival which has gained international recognition for featuring a mix of Pacific Northwest talent and exciting, progressive headliners. In 2019, John Bishop and Matt Jorgensen were named one of 12 "Jazz Heros" by the Jazz Journalist Association.
As a composer, he has written music for Cascade Public Media's "Crosscut Festival," created the sonic identity for Seattle's PBS station KCTS9, composed the theme for KUOW's "Seattle Now" podcast as well as working on numerous short films.

Evan Norberg is versed in both classical and jazz styles, with experience in top-notch ensembles. Among them Edmonds Community College’s Soundsation, Seattle Children’s Choir, Central Washington University’s Chamber Choir, Vocal Jazz 1, and more. Professionally, Evan has performed as bass/baritone soloist for various major works, such as René Clausen’s Memorial, Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Requiem, Mozart’s Vespers.
Influenced by many arrangers such as Vijay Singh, Kirk Marcy, and Kelly Kunz, Evan actively arranges his own charts with a steady stream for his own ensembles. More notably, his arrangement of Love You Madly was premiered at the National American Choral Directors Association Conference in Chicago in 2011.
Evan is excited to be a part of the Seattle Choir scene as a singing member of Choral Arts, local jazz group Last Call, and conductor to his own group, the Wellspring Ensemble.

Jensina Oliver, D.M.A, has been an Associate Faculty member at Shoreline Community College Music Department since 1998. Dr. Oliver teaches all levels of individual piano lessons and class piano courses, as well as First Year Music Theory and Aural Skills. Dr. Oliver received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano at the University of Washington. She performs regularly, including concert engagements in Europe, North America, Costa Rica, and China. She loves working with students of all ages and frequently gives teacher training workshops.  She is in high demand as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the Pacific Northwest.

A highly respected performer and music educator, Doug Reid is currently Director of Instrumental Music at Shoreline Community College located in Seattle, Washington. His professional experience is as varied as it is substantial. From classical recitals and master classes, to pop and jazz performances with national artists such as Mel Torme, John Pizzerelli, Tower of Power and many more, his distinctive saxophone sound can be heard throughout the northwest.
Doug has been a clinician at the International Association of Jazz Educators, The Washington State Music Educators Conference, North American Saxophone Conference and has contributed articles for the Saxophone Journal.
He has conducted honor groups in Washington, Illinois, Vancouver BC, California and Oregon. Mr. Reid is highly sought after as both an adjudicator and guest artist at regional music festivals.
A graduate of North Texas State University, Doug is an Educator/Clinician for Keilwerth saxophones.

Meg Stecker-Thorsen - Soprano - is the recipient of numerous awards, including three with the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions, and has performed with various symphony orchestras and opera companies in the United States.  She received her Bachelor and Masters degrees in vocal performance from the University of Wisconsin and the State University of New York.  Meg has taught at several universities and colleges throughout the U.S. and has produced and directed many musicals productions.  She is an active adjudicator, and teacher in the area.  She servers as the Vocal Coordinator of the SCC vocal program, and teaches class voice, diction, performance techniques, voice-dance, and private lessons.

Dr. Christopher Vongvithayamathakul (Mathakul) joins Shoreline Community College in the 2022-23 academic year as a full-time music faculty member and director of the Shoreline Concert Band. Previously, Dr. Mathakul directed the Symphonic Band and served as Music Ensembles Program Coordinator at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Mathakul completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in instrumental conducting at the University of Washington in 2022, studying with Professor Timothy Salzman. As concert bands graduate assistant at Washington, Dr. Mathakul served as the director of the Concert Band and assistant conductor for the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Mathakul spent seven years as a high school and middle school band director in schools on the island of O’ahu, Hawai’i.
