Assistant Chief Jim Lawless began his law enforcement career in 1987 with the Key West (FL) Police Department and has been with the Edmonds Police Department since 1995. During his career, Jim has served as a: Field Training Officer/Coordinator, Narcotics Detective/Sergeant, Street Crimes Officer/Sergeant, Patrol Officer/Corporal/Sergeant, SWAT Team Member, Instructor at the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy (Crisis Intervention Core Block), and instructed in the areas of defensive tactics, FTO, police RADAR/LIDAR, less lethal munitions, and firearms.
In 2008, Jim was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police. In January 2009, he had the honor and privilege of attending the FBI National Academy, Session 236, as well as the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, Session 72 in January 2013.
