Employee Bio

What I love about teaching at Shoreline is the microcosm of society we get in our classrooms.  I emphasize listening, connecting, and asking questions. How do we navigate this time and place with such heightened divisions and misunderstandings? I believe in an experiential approach to learning so I infuse my classroom with lively discussion & group activities. Students report that they work hard, learn a lot and have fun in my classes.
For the last 15 years I worked closely with our Honors College.  Over the years my academic interests include Anti-Racist Pedagogy, Ungrading, the Art of Storytelling, Critical Multicultural Understanding and Interdisciplinary Learning.
Personally I have traveled extensively, climbed many mountains and love most outdoor activities including backpacking, foraging and pickleball.  I also meet with friends monthly to organize against white nationalism and promote anti-racist programs and policies to fight voter suppression.
I prioritize community and try to create a learning environment where everyone knows each other and builds relationships. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions and do come take a class!
