Employee Bio

Zach Mazur uses photography to explore concepts of both natural and urban environments as both a professional artist and photojournalist. Mazur received a BFA in photography at Columbia College Chicago and an MFA at Washington State University, where he taught studio art, photography, and performed as the Curator of Education and Collections at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art for over a decade. He is currently a faculty member at Shoreline Community College where he teaches courses in studio art and photography.

Mazur is currently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Studies and Social Thought in Education at Washington State University and situates his research within arts-based research and critically conscious curation. Recent recognitions include Washington state's Grant for Artists Projects Award, the Pingyao International Photography Exhibition in China, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education Award for Best Photographic Series and Photographer of the Year.
